Tips to help you keep your New Year’s resolutions

New Year’s is just around the corner and that means many people pick goals for the next year.  From getting back into the workout routine to curbing your coffee runs, use these tips to keep your goals throughout the whole year.

Resolutions are always easier to keep when you have someone else to hold you accountable. You can find a workout buddy or even challenge a friend to see how much money you can each save on groceries over the course of a month.

With a busy schedule, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and often times those resolutions are the first things to fall by the wayside. Schedule time on your calendar for your resolutions, just like you would for a meeting, you won’t have to worry about running out of time or forgetting to work towards your goals.

Rather than just listing your goals, make a plan on how you are going to reach them. Separating your resolution into smaller goals can help you keep and reach your resolution faster. It also will prevent you from becoming discouraged. As you achieve each small milestone, you’ll feel refreshed to keep going to hit your larger goal.

With so many apps and websites available these days, you can track or automate just about anything. So why not utilize these for your resolutions as well? If you’re trying to lose weight you can download an app to track your food and exercise. For financial goals you can do something as simple as automating your payments to make sure you don’t get charged for late fees.

Select a few goals that you really want to work on this year, maybe even some that overlap. This way you can focus your efforts on these few things.
