Join us on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 for our annual report to members. We’ll review 2020, including our recent merger with Firefly Credit Union, and will celebrate another successful year of service to our membership.

 

When: May 19, 2021 – 6:30 p.m.
Where: Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, this will be a virtual event.

2021 BOARD NOMINEES


The TruStone Financial Credit Union Nominating Committee has nominated a slate of four candidates for four three-year terms on the Board of Directors. The 2021 nominees are:

STEVE HUNZIKER Board Member

Steve Hunziker joined TruStone’s Board of Directors in 2019 after having served on its Supervisory Committee for five years, most recently as Chair. Steve is divisional President of an insurance brokerage company, specializing in management and professional liability insurance for financial institutions, public companies and professional firms. He is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, and is a past Chair and current member of the organization’s Professional Development Curriculum Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, where he has served as a volunteer mentor for students and alumni.

JAMES SACKETT Treasurer

James Sackett joined TruStone Financial’s Board of Directors as Treasurer in 2021, having previously served on the board of Firefly Credit Union until the organizations merged. He is on the senior leadership team of a major health care company. James won the Distinguished Director Award from the Credit Union Executives Society in 2018 and is a Certified Credit Union Board Member by the Credit Union National Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, golfing, fishing and traveling.

SAMUEL L. STERN Secretary

Sam Stern has been on the TruStone Financial Board of Directors since 2010. He brings more than 40 years’ experience as an attorney in both the public and private sectors to the Board. Sam uses the professional knowledge and real-world insights gained through his work as a Legislative Counsel in the U.S. Senate and his representation of financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and individuals to provide guidance to TruStone Financial. He volunteers with a number of non-profits, including Everybody Wins, a reading mentoring program; the Hurdles Foundation, an organization supporting programs that assist disadvantaged youth; Minnetonka Rotary Club; Yore D.C., an online archive documenting the history of Washington, D.C. through words and photos; and the TruStone Foundation, where Sam is serving his third term as Board Chair. In his spare time, Sam is an avid photographer and TruStone Member Photo Calendar contributor and a devoted Papa to his five grandchildren.

ANNE ZIEBELL Vice Chair

Anne Ziebell joined TruStone Financial’s Board of Directors as Vice Chair in 2021 upon the merger of TruStone and Firefly Credit Union. Anne had been a member of Firefly’s Board of Directors since 2006 and was serving as Firefly’s Board Chair during the merger negotiations and implementation with TruStone. Anne brings governance and leadership experience as Senior Program Manager, Board & Subsidiary Governance and Shareholder Services at a leading medical device company and as a twice-elected councilwoman to the city council of Dayton, Minn. Anne has been a member of the Society of Corporate Governance Professionals since 2000 and the National Association of Corporate Directors since 2015. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from American Intercontinental University.
 

NOMINATIONS BY PETITION
 

There will be no nominations from the floor at the annual meeting as any required election will be held exclusively by mail ballot. TruStone Financial bylaws, however, allow members to seek election by petition. Petitions must be signed by 5% of the total membership, and must be accompanied by a signed statement from the nominee. Completed nominations by petition must be received by April 5, 2021 at 4:00pm CT.
