Our Story.
It all started in 1939 with eight Minnesota teachers who dreamed of better financial control. Their spark of ambition ignited the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers Credit Union — growing and evolving into what we now call TruStone Financial. The Foundation was created by TruStone Financial, as a charitable organization dedicated to promoting financial education and literacy in our communities.
TruStone Foundation Programs
Financial Literacy Program
Early financial literacy education prepares young minds for the big grown-up world long before they enter it. It gives them a head start toward making solid, informed financial decisions. To achieve that end, the Foundation, along with TruStone Financial, partners with youth-based non-profits like Junior Achievement. Together we bring financial education to the youth online and in classrooms in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Scholarship Program
Students from 48 different high schools throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin will receive different scholarships to help defray today’s spendy tuition rates. In addition, our Foundation hosts an adult education award established in the memory of Fritz Wurzer - the father of Minnesota Public Radio host Cathy Wurzer. It’s True. We begin accepting scholarship applications early spring.
