It all began with a few teachers and a dream
Back in 1939, eight Minneapolis teachers decided to take control of their own financial security. Together, they formed the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers Credit Union.
Over the years, the credit union has grown and expanded across the Midwest. In 2020, we merged with Firefly Credit Union, Minnesota’s first financial cooperative. This made us the second-largest credit union in the state.
Serving our communities is what we're all about.
We offer many of the same services as a bank, but there’s a big difference. Our members are our owners, which means that we put you—not shareholders—first.
Our profits go back to our members in the form of fewer (and lower) fees, more competitive rates and higher investment returns.
